Residential Tenant Protections​

Housing for All Burlingame supports:
  • Just Cause Eviction protections for renters of multifamily housing of 4 units or more. 
  • Relocation Assistance for tenants of multifamily housing who receive no-fault evictions or rent increases of 5% and over that cause displacement.
  • Relocation Assistance for tenants in buildings that have been declared uninhabitable.
  • Relocation Assistance for tenants in buildings that are being removed from the rental market.
  • Citywide rental housing inspections to ensure multifamily housing is safe and healthy.  If repairs are needed, all measures must be taken to prevent displacement, including alternative temporary housing and no increase in rent.
  • Citywide seismic safety inspections of all rental housing, and disclosure to tenants.

Inclusionary Housing

Housing for All Burlingame supports:
  • Repeal of Measure T which prohibits the enforcement of inclusionary housing in new developments.
  • 30% of all units in new developments be included as affordable housing at moderate, low, and severely low income levels.

Housing Preservation

Housing for All Burlingame supports preservation of currently affordable housing. This includes the taxaton of short term property rentals such as Airbnb on all rental properties.  All such taxes should be placed into an affordable housing fund.

Transit Oriented Development

Housing for All Burlingame supports affordable transit oriented development.

Specific Plans

Housing for All Burlingame supports:
  • Development of affordable housing for severely low, low, and moderate income levels.
  • Anonymous renter hotline for code enforcement issues.
  • Seismic safety disclosures for all rental housing.

Affordable Housing Funding

​Housing for All Burlingame supports: 
  • Residential impact fees as a source of funds for affordable housing.
  • The allocation of all rent revenue from Top Golf to go towards affordable housing, as it sits on public land.

Public Land for Affordable Housing

Housing for All Burlingame supports:
  • Inclusion of affordable housing on all public lands, including in the renovation of public buildings such as the Recreation Center and City Hall.

Second Units

Housing for All Burlingame supports:
  • Facilitating Accessory Dwelling Units.

Development

Housing for All Burlingame believes development should benefit everyone in our city, and that no development should be undertaken without payment of prevailing wages.
